If you’re planning to hire a motorhome or campervan from us, you may have a few questions! With this in mind, we’ve created a handy FAQs list, covering everything from booking terms to legal requirements and information about our vehicles.

BOOKING
How do I book?
The easiest way is to book online on our website or you can call 07813 333329 / 01752 767605.
How Do I Pay?
When you book with Kintripper, we charge a non-refundable booking deposit of £195 to secure the vehicle for the dates you’ve specified. By paying this deposit, you are accepting our terms and conditions.
The remaining balance is due no less than 5 weeks before the date of hire, by bank transfer or cheque. We will send you an invoice for the remaining balance in your confirmation pack. Please note, if you do not pay the balance by the due date, we reserve the right to cancel your booking.
The refundable security deposit of £750 is required to be paid via bank transfer 7 days before your hire date.
Do You Charge a Security Deposit?
Yes, a refundable security deposit of £750 is required and must be paid 7 days before you’re due to collect the vehicle.
Can I Bring My Dog with Me?
Yes. We allow small, well-behaved dogs for an additional charge of £30 per dog per booking. Please be aware that dogs are not allowed to be in the vehicle unattended and are not allowed on soft furnishings.
Can I Use a Baby Seat in Your Vehicles?
Yes, baby or child seats that can be attached and secured by the seatbelt may be used in our vehicles. Seats that rely on ISOFIX or ISIZE anchor points are not compatible with any of our vehicles.
Are Your Motorhomes and Campervans Child-Friendly?
Yes, absolutely! All of our vehicles can accommodate families with children of all ages.
Can I take a motorhome or Campervan to a festival?
Yes, you can take one of our vehicles to a festival! We do reserve the right to charge a higher security deposit in these instances.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
Do You Need to Check My Driving Licence?
Yes, we do. To do this, we need your NI Number. If you’d prefer not to provide this, you can visit https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence and provide us with your ‘Check Code’.
I Have a Driving Licence From a Non-EU Country, Can I Still Hire a Motorhome or Campervan From You?
Yes, you can! Please note, if your licence is not printed in English, you will need to present an International Driving Permit, along with your driving licence.
What Paperwork Do I Need to Bring With Me?
The following documents MUST be with you when collecting the vehicle. The insurance company will not cover you unless all of the required paperwork has been checked.
- Current driving licence (showing your current address) held for at least 2 years, with no more than 6 points
- We require at least 2 more forms of ID, e.g. a utility bill with your current address. (These must not be any more than 90 days old, with the only exception being a council tax bill, which can be up to 12mths old.)
Is There An Age Limit?
Yes; the driver must be between 25−75 years of age for Motorhome hire.
Is There a Vehicle Excess?
In the event of an accident, you are liable for £1,000 excess in respect of all claims. If you have points, endorsements or convictions on your driving licence, can you still hire a motorhome? We can accept drivers with a maximum of 6 points on their licence, providing they:
- Are aged between 25-75
- Have held a full, valid UK or EU driving licence for more than 2 years
- Haven’t been convicted of a driving offence or had their licence suspended
What Happens if I Return the Motorhome or Campervan Late?
If you do not return the motorhome or Campervan on time, you will incur a penalty charge of £100 per hour (or part thereof). Failure to return the vehicle by 5 pm on the last day of hire means that the vehicle is not insured, therefore the drivers are left liable to criminal prosecution.
What Happens With Fuel?
Fuel is at the expense of the hirer and is not included in the hire charge. We issue the vehicle to you with a full tank of fuel and we require you to return it to us with a full tank.
Is Insurance Included In the Price?
Yes, fully comprehensive insurance for one driver is included as standard.
What Happens If I Have An Accident in the Motorhome?
If you have an accident in the motorhome, please notify us as soon as possible and ideally, within 24 hours of the event.
When Can I Collect and Return the Motorhome?
Collection can be arranged between 15:00-17:00, whereas returns must take place before 10:30. Other times may be available, please contact us in advance for more information.
CANCELLATIONS
I need to cancel my booking, what do I need to do?
If you need to cancel your booking, please contact us as soon as possible by phone on 01752 767605 or 07813 333329. Please note, the following charges apply if you cancel your booking:
- More than 6 weeks before the start of hire – Loss of booking deposit
- 4-6 weeks before the start of hire – 25% of the overall hire charge
- 2-4 weeks before the start of hire – 50% of the overall hire charge
- Less than 2 weeks before the start of hire – 100% of the overall hire charge
- No shows – No refund (Except on a similar basis to late arrivals)
Kintripper reserve the right to cancel your booking if, at the time of collection, the driving licence of the nominated driver is invalid or not in accordance with our terms and conditions. In this situation, all monies paid by the hiring party (Except the £750 refundable security deposit) will be forfeited to Kintripper. It is the responsibility of the hirer to ensure that all nominated drivers are licenced to drive the vehicle, in line with our terms and conditions.
OUR VEHICLES
What Do I Need to Bring With Me?
We do not provide towels or bedding, so please bring these with you. A Sat Nav is available at an additional cost (Please see “Extras” on our Price List). The kitchen is fully equipped with cups, plates, cookware etc.
Can surfboards, bikes or snowboards be carried in or on the motorhome?
All of our motorhomes have bike racks attached to the rear. Surfboards and snowboards can be safely stored inside the vehicle.
Is Smoking Permitted in your motorhomes?
No, smoking is not permitted in any of our vehicles, at any time.
Do You Offer Optional Extras?
Yes, we offer a wide range of additional extras, such as:
- Sat Nav – £12
- European Driving – £10 per driver, per night (7 nights minimum)
- Additional Driver – £7.50 per day
- Small, Well Behaved Dogs – £30 per dog
Can We Take Your Vehicles Abroad?
Yes! Our Motorhomes may be taken across to Europe.
Is There a Mileage Limit?
We have a mileage limit of 1,250 miles per week. You can purchase bundles of 250 miles thereafter for £50 per unit.
