HISTORIC CAMPING

HISTORIC CAMPING

Wales has over 600 castles to offer, so no matter where you visit you will never be too far away from one. Snowdonia has some fantastic castles and is also the perfect place to do a bit of wild camping. Kip our campervan is perfect for this type of road trip and as I write this, “Kip” is doing his first adventure around Snowdonia.
Snowdonia has so much to offer: castles, mountains, lakes and beaches, and with over 150 attractions you will have plenty to choose from. Dolbadarn Castle, nestled between Caernarfon and Snowdonia on the shore of lake padarn, is certainly one to visit. The area is stunning and there are plenty of campsites to choose from.
We recommend Caernarfon Castle, Caerphilly Castle (the largest in Wales), and Conwy Castle, which is perched on a rock against the backdrop of Snowdonia. These are just a few of the places you could visit. Bala Lake is also a good one and if you don’t fancy wild camping there are some good campsites: Pant Yr Onnen Lakeside campsite is on the southern shores of the lake, and offers some stunning views of the lake and mountain. But if castles are not your thing and you enjoy a bit of train spotting then the Ffestiniog Railway is one for you. It is the oldest independent railway company in the world. It will take you to the mountains through tranquil pastures and magnificent forests, past lakes and waterfalls.
